Just Stop Traffic activists halt cycle path protest

Activists from the Just Stop Traffic movement have said that they are halting their current protest because no one’s really listening to them.

The activists had blocked a cycle path just off the B4520 outside Brecon but decided to halt their campaign after cyclists got off their bikes and walked around them.

Head protester Tarquin Smythe-Peacock told WalesOnCraic:

“We are passionate about climate change and we believe that the only way to do this is to stop the ordinary folk from going about their daily business. Hospital appointments? Not happening. Funerals? You’re not going. Important meetings? Not on our watch. As you will have seen from previous protests, the world is now thinking about not having traffic in their towns and cities. This helps with pollution and also allows us to lie down in the roads and relax.

“Sadly, our protest just outside of Brecon proved ineffective and I was also getting cold so we’ve called the whole thing off,” he added.

The group are now planning a series of further protests, aimed at farmers using fields for their sheep.

“It’s outragreous,” added Smythe-Peacock, before hopping in his Range Rover and heading back home to Kingston-upon-Thames.
