A woman from Bargoed has found her wheelie bin, five days after having it emptied - but discovered it in a different postcode.
Ethel Grumblegunt put her bin out for collection on Sunday night, only for it to turn up in a different postcode, five days later.
She told WalesOnCraic:
“I’ve spent the last week in a proper tizz. I put my black bin out, like I always does, on a Sunday night. I heard the binmen outside the house on Monday morning. But when I went out to collect it, there it was - gone!
“I phoned my son, who came to help me look for it. We hunted high and low. We put messages on Facebook and on our Whatsapp groups. It was only after a few days that I had a message from a total stranger, asking if I was missing a bin. It had turned up miles away. I can only think that it was the binmen who put it there.”
WalesOnCraic approached the binmen for comment. FreddieStinkyfingers said:
“We likes to have a bit of fun with the wheelie bins. We likes to hide them and then come back and watch people looking for them. It helps pass the time of day away, especially when it’s one of those long, boring days. I once even took a wheelie bin home for the week and put it back a week later. We does like to have a laugh,” he added.
