A Welsh clapping conference descended into farce last week after delegates clapping for the clapping demonstrations found that they were clapping for the clapping that had already been clapped.

The two-day event dragged on for over a week following confusion over who was clapping for what.

Conference attendee Charlie Flatfoot told WalesOnCraic:

“The event started off very well and we had some wonderful demonstrations of applause and different styles of clapping. Problems started when the clapping demonstrations were finished and people started clapping the clapping and those who had been clapping as part of the clapping demonstration, didn’t know whether to clap or not clap.

“As the week went on, people started mistaking the clapping that was clapping for the clapping demonstrations as clapping demonstrations so other people started clapping those too. It ended up with a continuous round of applause for just the one clapping demonstration that everyone was originally clapping for.”

Event organisers are hoping to iron out the teething troubles that were experienced this year.

“We’re hoping to iron out the teething troubles that we experienced this year,” said one event organiser.
