French 'lucky' to scrape win against the Welsh
Les Bleus sneak past Wales in Six Nations thriller
Wales faced heartbreak on the weekend as a lucky French team scraped past Wales to maintain their unbeaten run.
Les Bleus were lucky to get 54 points on the board, according to Wales rugby armchair coach, Dai Lard.
He told WalesOnCraic:
“First of all, the ref was very biased. Every time the Welsh did something illegal, he’d blow his whistle. Whatever happened to overlooking the odd infringements here and there? It meant that France were allowed to keep on scoring. They should count themselves very lucky.
“Second, our lads had been told to kick the ball a lot, which was lucky for the French because they kept catching it and scoring. If we hadn’t had kicked it as much, they wouldn’t have scored as much. So they were very luck in that respect.
“Finally, the French were lucky to get away with some of those so-called tries. Most of them were clearly not grounded, even though they were, and that means that Wales were very unlucky.”
Mr Lard said that Wales would need to not be so unlucky against Scotland this coming weekend.
“Obviously, the lads gave 100%, apart from the ones that didn’t, and I told the lads to just go out there and enjoy the game and fair play to the lads, they went out there and tried to enjoy the game but they were getting hammered so they probably didn’t enjoy it that much but we’ll take the positives from the game, namely the fact that it ended and we’ll go again on the weekend, when we hope to be a little bit more lucky.”
Wales face Scotland in their third game of this year’s Six Nations tournament on Saturday.
