Councils filling in potholes with Rice Krispies
Motorists are finding road repairs nationwide have been made with nutritionally poor rice-based cereal
Potholes across Wales are being filled in with Rice Krispies, according to one motorist who lost his two front tyres yesterday.
Derek Smallballs claims cash-strapped councils are filling in potholes with nutritionally poor rice-based cereal.
Speaking from his local KwikFit garage, Mr Smallballs told WalesOnCraic:
“I was driving to my usual dogging spot just after Emmerdale last night when I hit what I thought was a meteorite crater in the middle of the road. My two front tyres came flying off and hit an old granny who was walking back from Superdrug on the other side of the road.
“I got out of my car to see what had happened and I could make out that my car had hit some potholes in the road. The whole of the front of my car had gone. Because I’m a nosey twat, I went to investigate the potholes because my local councillor had said that they’d been filled in. But when I got closer, I could see that they’d only been filled in with Rice Krispies. I wouldn’t have normally minded but they didn’t even have sugar sprinkled on them.”
Local councillor Timothy Tightarse defended the local council’s actions. He told WalesOnCraic:
“We’ve been having to save cash to build the new £4bn cycle path plus we’re looking to hire Russ Abbot for our Christmas party this year and he doesn’t come cheap. We’ll be continuing to fill in all our road’s potholes with Rice Krispies until they’re magically fixed by the pothole fairy, who comes along in the summer.”
Mr Smallballs says he will need to be careful the next time he goes dogging.
“Obviously my car’s off the road for the next few days but looking ahead, I may need to take my Mam’s Mini Metro up to the forest next time. I’ll just need to be more careful when I do.”
