Sales of chipwood wallpaper have rocketed ahead of return to school for high school pupils.
Back-to-school students' new exercise books will be at least 4 inches thick with their new wallcoverings.
Mum of 14, Glenda Slackflaps, told WalesOnCraic:
“The schools have been sending out emails, telling us that the kids need their exercise books covered before they start back to school. I ain’t got the money to go buying poncy posh stuff so I got my dopey husband to go get some cheap chipwood wallpaper. The kids have wrapped their books in it and if we’ve got any left over, I might get my bedroom done. I was going to get it done last year but I paid to get some Turkey Teeth instead.”
Chipwood wallpaper manufacturer, Woodchip Dreams, told WalesOnCraic:
“We usually see a spike in sales at this time of year so we’re pleased that this has been the case in 2025. With everything going on in the world right now, we weren’t sure as to whether it would materialise but we’re good. We’ll be making sure the kids have what they need to start a new academic year with appropriate wallcoverings.”
Children are expected to go back to school this week, following a six week break so that tired teachers can have a break instead of carrying on working like everyone else in the country.
