A woman from Miskin has spent her monthly wage on candles instead of food.
Gladys TwoPorches said that the candles were for the entire household, and not just for herself.
She told WalesOnCraic:
“Food’s alright and all that but it’s not the be all and end all. A house has to have candles if it’s going to be a home. I went to the new Trago Mills store the other week and the bargains they’ve got there – well, I couldn’t leave them there for that price. I spent my entire monthly wage and maxed out my husband’s credit card to make sure that our house was sufficiently stocked with candles. I’ve got all sorts of flavours – vanilla, fresh cotton, misty sea. Then I’ve got some fruity ones for when I’m feeling fruity. I’ve even got some for the bathroom because when my husband comes home from the pub, the bathroom usually smells of that sweet lager smell for a few days afterwards. We won’t be able to eat for the next few weeks but that’s ok because my house will smell nice.”
Husband Tim said:
“I think I made a big mistake marrying this woman. I’m sat here watching telly and I haven’t had anything to eat since last Thursday. What kind of life is that? My bathroom does smell nice though, I’ll give her that.”
