Teachers chose profession because ‘it seemed like a good idea at the time’

86% of teachers in Wales have said they chose teaching as a profession because it ‘seemed like a good idea at the time’.

Many teachers now regularly work 120 hours a week, leaving many wishing they’d stuck to working in Tesco.

One teacher told WalesOnCraic:

“I get up at 4am every day to start my day. I then teach little shits for six hours a day. And then I come home and prep my work for the following day, which takes me about another 7 hours. I get three hours sleep if I’m lucky. On weekends, I set about prepping my lessons for the forthcoming week and marking the work from the previous week. All the holiday time I get away I spend working. I even work when I’m in the bath. I really wish I’d stuck with my job in Tesco. Looking back, I’d give anything to be marking down the reduced items and putting them in the shelf. I’m ruined.”

A spokesman for the Government said:

“We do appreciate everything that teachers do for us but I do with that they’d stop moaning. They moan about anything.”
