Shyness Conference abandoned after keynote speakers fail to appear on stage

A conference designed to help people overcome shyness has been abandoned after its keynote speakers failed to appear on stage.

The speakers were later found hiding in a cleaning cupboard and audience members were too shy to point out that the stage was empty.

Timothy Whispers, who organised the event told WalesOnCraic:

“I don’t want to say too much. In fact, I’d rather not say anything at all. Can I put it in a letter for you? I can get things across better that way.”

One conference delegate said:

“I’d rather not speak either. Can I call you? Actually no. That’s even worse than speaking to someone. Ok. I’ll tell you what happened as long as you don’t look at me while I’m saying it. You looking? Look the other way. You can’t see me can you? Ok. Well, we were sat there waiting for someone to come on stage but no one did. Everyone was too shy to point out that there wasn’t anyone on stage so we sat there for most of the day. That’s it really.”
