Sales of binoculars in decline as more people now stand closer to objects they want to look at

Posted on

Sales of binoculars are in terminal decline and could be classed as obsolete by 2020.

The news comes as it has been revealed that people are now standing closer to the objects they want to look at.

One former binocular user, who wished to remain anonymous, told WalesOnCraic:

“I used binoculars for many years. At one point, I owned five pairs but it was only when I started standing closer to the things that I was wanting to look at, that I realised that I didn’t need to splash out on them. One by one, I sold them on EBay and now I don’t use any at all. I feel a lot cleaner and it certainly helps when I go on holiday as I don’t need to lug them around. My only problem comes when I want to look at the moon but I get around that problem by standing on a chair because that gets me closer to the moon for a closer inspection.”

Bryan BoggleEyes, Chairman of the Welsh Binocular Society said:

“It’s a sad indication of the times but there’s very little we can do to halt the decline. One day, I’ll be able to tell all my grandkids about them with a smile on my face.”
