TV celebrity Phillip Schofield has shocked the nation by announcing that his wife of 27 years is a woman.
Schofield made the announcement on Instagram, and followed it up with an interview on TV.
A spokesman for Mr Schofield told WalesOnCraic:
“We were as surprised as you were when we heard the news this morning. We’ve all assumed that Gordon the Gopher was involved somewhere along the line but what we weren’t expecting was his wife to be an actual woman. We also know that Phillip has been struggling for a long time as a closet Tory and we did hear that his ‘wife’ was only just coming to terms with this. What we didn’t know was that his wife was indeed a woman all along.”
Fans of This Morning have show support for Phillip, who first found fame broadcasting from a cupboard with a pet gopher. He has since gone on to become one of the UK’s best-loved TV hosts.
