Prestatyn man rescued from houseful of carrier bags

A Prestatyn man was rescued by firefighters from a houseful of carrier bags yesterday.

Andrew Flangebucket told WalesOnCraic about his ordeal:

“I knew this was going to happen one day. Every time I go shopping, I forget to take the bags with me and have to buy new ones. This wasn’t a problem when they were free, because I would just have a clear out every year or so, but ever since they started charging I have held on to them. I mean, who in their right mind is going to recycle something they have paid good money for? Are they going to buy them back off me? No.”

A fire brigade spokesman said:

“It took three of us to break in through the front door and wade through the plastic bags. Mr Flangebucket had repeatedly tried to leave the premises, but couldn’t open the door under the weight of the bags. He kept slipping on the ones underfoot and suffered a mild concussion as the result of a fall. Fortunately, he was able to phone for help.”

Andrew’s neighbour, Hilary Looseslacks, said:

“The man is a total knob. I don’t know why he doesn’t just make the spare bags into pants. I have been doing it for years –  they are both wipe-clean and non-stick. Ideal.”
