Percy Pigs reach £20 a gram on black market

Percy Pigs have reached an all-time high on the black market.

Fears over Brexit-fuelled shortages of the popular sweets this morning raised prices to a record high.

One Pontypridd Percy Pig dealer, who didn’t want to be named, told WalesOnCraic:

“I’ve been keeping tabs on demand and I there were some noises coming from Dover last night that supplies may have been affected. I’ve been selling them for £15 a gram this last week, which I thought was pretty high but as soon as I had a sniff that supplies could be affected, I put my prices up. People are still paying so I’m quids in at the moment. My worry is if supplies do get problematic, I won’t be able to supply some of the people that usually come to me. We’ll just have to see how it goes.”

Marks & Spencer warned this morning that its popular sweets could be hit by tariffs if it re-exports the product to European Union countries, including Ireland. The sweets are made in Germany, which is quite far away.
