No. 10 offers striking nurses extra claps

The UK government has offered an olive branch to striking nurses by offering them extra applause.

A spokesman for Downing Street said that the 20% increase in Thursday night claps package had been presented to the nursing union and was waiting on a reply.

A spokeswoman for Downing Street told WalesOnCraic:

“We all value the dedication and life-saving work that our nurses carry out on a daily basis. And we also know that many of them are struggling to make ends meet during these challenging times. With that in mind, we are prepared to reach out to them and offer them an olive branch in the form of extra claps. We know how much they were appreciated during the pandemic and we think that this is a crisis that everyone in the UK can help out with, apart from us.”

Nurses Gladys Manuel said:

“We welcome the Government’s offer of extra claps on Thursday nights. I remember during the pandemic that they helped me pay all my bills and ironed out all the dangerous working practices that needed to be resolved. I’m confident that this will stop us from striking.”
