Man rushed to hospital with Acute Greggs Withdrawal Syndrome

A man from Treorchy has been rushed to hospital with the first suspected case of Acute Greggs Withdrawal Syndrome.

Matthew Widegirth was taken by ambulance after he complained that he was desperate for a steak bake.

A neighbour told WalesOnCraic:

“It was awful. Things had been getting worse all week and he was getting very tetchy. Then last night, just after Coronation Street, there was an almighty argument and I honestly thought that was going to be the end of him. He came out of his front door, crying and wailing and begging someone for a steak bake. He was banging on all of our doors and that’s when I had to call for help. Fair do’s to the police, there were here within minutes, mainly because they’d been itching to give someone a proper beating for weeks. They twatted him over the head a few times to get him to calm down and after a few minutes, they cuffed him, chucked him in the car and drove off. We found out later that they’d taken him to hospital.”

Mr Widegirth spent the night in hospital and is currently undergoing tests. Doctors say that they are going to try and feed him alternative pastries but don’t hold out much hope of him taking to them.

“We’ve got some shit in our fridge that’s been there for months. We’ll try him with that and if it doesn’t work, I don’t know what we’ll do.”
