Government ministers to get clap instead of pay rise next year

Government ministers will receive a national clap as part of their pay rise package next year.

NHS staff have welcomed the move, saying that the weekly clapping that took place during lockdown really helped them pay their bills.

A spokesman for Downing Street told WalesOnCraic:

“We like to think that we’re in touch with the little people of this country and we’ve seen how well-received our wonderful NHS staff have taken to a good old clap. Not wanting to miss out, we thought we’d ask for a clap instead of a £30,0000 pay rise next year. A clap can really help get through the financial year so we’d like a bit of that, thank you very much.”

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has also announced that he’ll be handing out free Freddo bars in the next few months, to make people feel appreciated.
