Gas bill passes successfully through Commons

Posted on

A gas bill intended for the Welsh Secretary has passed through the House of Commons at the first attempt.

The Bill, for £27,834, was delivered at the gates of Parliament by the postman and passed to a policeman directly to the Right Honourable Member for Telford Lucy Allan. She, in turn, passed it to Mr Chrispin Blunt, the MP for Reigate. He crossed the house and delivered it to the Welsh Secretary and MP for the Vale of Glamorgan, Alun Cairns.

Mr Cairns expressed his pleasure at the Bill being passed and said:

“It would be settled in due course,” but when asked whether a direct debit plan would have been more diligent, he completely ignored the question and instead droned on about one million more police being recruited on the streets. And a couple of nurses.
