BBC to celebrate St David’s Day by screening rerun of England’s 2003 Rugby World Cup victory

The BBC are celebrating St David’s Day by showing the full Rugby World Cup winning match by England over Australia.

The screening includes the match-winning drop goal taken by Paul Nuttall in the dying minutes of the game.

BBC boss Giles BoggleEyes said:

“In parallel with our other coverage of England during any of the other rugby games that might be taking place during this year’s Six Nations, we are delighted to be able to show this entire match of England taking Rugby World Cup glory. We will be screening the game at 7.30pm, just as people are sitting down to have their tea and it will serve as a timely reminder of just who’s boss in this small island of ours. I for one will be sitting down to watch the game as if I’ve never seen it before and I hope that the people of Wales can join with us in feeling the overwhelming emotion when Nuttall takes that drop kick goal at the end. What a player he is.”

Welsh rugby fan Dai ‘Dave’ Jones said:

“I sat down to watch the Welsh game on the weekend and at half time, the coverage of England’s progress was covered in so much detail, I thought I’d tuned into the wrong game. Good luck to England for this year’s Six Nations. Just hope Scotland can stick one on them.”
