Army called in to parts of Wales as half an inch of snow shuts down towns and cities

The Army has been called in to parts of Wales as half an inch of snow has left towns in turmoil.

Trains have been derailed, buses have been left stranded and old people have been left wondering whether they can’t get to bingo in the mornings.

One eyewitness said:

“I saw it come right out of the sky. It was like rain but whiter and colder. Lots of it landed on the floor and the next thing I know, the whole place is covered in it. I’ve had helicopters flying over, dropping food and supplies and Noel Edmunds has just been on telly, advising me on what to do if I come across a polar bear. I’m hoping I can get to bingo tomorrow because it’s a big one.”

Another man said:

“I slid right on my arse trying to come down my street. I felt a right prick.”
