Alun Cairns to start new job in a Christmas grotto

Former Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns is set to start a new job in a Santa’s grotto.

Mr Cairns left his Government position earlier today to focus on his new career.

A spokesman for Santa told WalesOnCraic:

“Westminster’s loss is our gain. We struggle every year to find people who’d be perfect in our grotto and Alun’s resignation from the Government couldn’t have come at a better time for us. We phoned Alun straight away and without hesitation, he said he’d snap the job up. We’ll get him in next week for some training and before we know it, he’ll be an accredited helper of Santa. We’ve got some great outfits for him to wear and we’d expect him to work some evenings and most weekends leading up to Christmas.”

A spokesman for Downing Street said that they’d be sad to see Alun go.

“He’s been here years Perhaps his greatest achievement was renaming the Second Severn Crossing and we always enjoyed reading his column in the Barry and District News. We’ll miss all that.”

Alun is expected to start his new job tomorrow morning.
