Woman mortgages house to buy family popcorn at local cinema

A woman from Tonteg has mortgaged her house to pay for popcorn at a local cinema.

Eileen Thundergunt splashed out £45,000 to buy six buckets of popcorn when she took her family to watch Showdogs.

She told WalesOnCraic:

“I was going to buy some of that cheap stuff from Poundland but my mate told me that they were closing down so I had to go in and actually buy some in the cinema. I ordered six buckets of popcorn because most of my family are obese and they all needed feeding or I wouldn’t have heard the end of it. The man ran it through the till and it came to £45,000. I told the man that I didn’t have that kind of money on me so I had to go home and remortgage my house. Now my family are likely to lose their home and we’ll end up living on the streets. On the plus side, the film was great and we’d all go back again to watch it if I had another house to mortgage.”

Eileen is now looking for a pay day loan to cover the cost of the mortgage.

“I’m looking for a pay day loan to cover the cost of the mortgage,” she said.
