US President Donald Trump has denied calling Newport a shithole in a meeting with officials yesterday.
Trump said that Newport was more of an arse wipe than a shithole.
A spokesman for the White House said:
“Donald does get a little confused from time to time. While it is true that he referred to several countries as shitholes, his reference to Newport came in a different category, to which he referred to the place as an arse wipe. Mr Donald would like to apologise for the confusion, which he blames on eating too many cheese burgers.”
A council official from Newport said:
“We don’t mind being called an arse wipe, we do stop at being called a shit hole. We all know that Newport struggles with its international image and what Mr Trump said today has only made things worse. We would like the US President to offer a full and unreserved apology. Or just give us some money.”
Newport was recently voted the best place to get a kebab by some lads down the pub.
